Stefan Schöning was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1968 and holds a degree in product development from the Henry van de Velde Institute in Antwerp.
In 1994, he founded an industrial design firm working for clients in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and the United States.
In order to be able to produce his personal ideas in limited editions, he created the design brand Polyline in 2001.
More recently, the studio has expanded its activities with award design, interior and public design, architecture and production.
For the Belgian brand Dark, he designed lighting fixtures including the "La cage" model.
