Founded in Barcelona, Aqueni is a design studio run by Roger Vilardell and Jordi Vilardell, two professionals who, after parallel careers in industrial design, chose to bring together their shared experience, expertise and concerns in a collaborative space. Aqueni is a studio where experimentation, design and product development all revolve around the same objective: to combine functionality, formal clarity and technical mastery.
The studio specializes in the design of lighting fixtures, in collaboration with brands such as Estiluz, and creates technically demanding decorative objects. Aqueni's approach is based on simple forms and careful attention to materials and uses, whether for indoor or outdoor lighting. Barcelona, their base, influences a vision of design focused on innovation, sobriety and sensible use.
Roger Vilardell, industrial engineer and designer, holds degrees in industrial design engineering (Elisava) and industrial organization (UPC). Curious and rigorous, he has devoted most of his career to product development in the lighting sector. He has worked for major companies in the sector, where he has managed several design and development teams. With almost twenty years' experience behind him, he co-founded Aqueni to pursue an independent and demanding approach to design.
Jordi Vilardell is an industrial designer trained at the La Llotja School of Applied Arts. He started out at Gargot, a lighting and furniture company, before going freelance and teaching in parallel. His work ranges from decorative and technical lighting to furniture, technical gardening and biotechnological instrumentation. Accustomed to collaborating with other professionals, he sees Aqueni as a natural extension of this collective dynamic.
Aqueni thus embodies a design practice rooted in experience, complementarity and the desire to explore sustainable, fair and sensitive solutions.
