The history of Atelier Pierre has its roots in the stories of two enterprising grandfathers. Camille Larridon, a passionate cabinetmaker, began crafting his own furniture in 1945, patiently finishing his pieces right on the family kitchen table before opening his own workshop and store in 1950. For his part, Pierre Vanhalst earned a living as a photographer in the aftermath of World War I, passing on a strong entrepreneurial spirit to his descendants.

In 1968, the two families came together: Lieven Vanhalst and Jenny Larridon settled in Izegem and opened a pastry shop, which they soon expanded to include baby gifts. In the 1990s, the business evolved into a wholesale operation specializing in wedding, baby, and party gifts. In 2001, the third generation—Sophie and Frank—took up the torch and founded Objects by Vanhalst®, marking the transition from traditional trading to the development of consumer-focused products.

In 2015, Atelier Pierre® was launched, a brand focused on the international design market. It offers young Belgian designers the opportunity to create their very first collection of “lifestyle accessories.” The name says it all: “Atelier” evokes craftsmanship, design, and expertise, while “Pierre”—a tribute to Grandfather Vanhalst—brings character and authenticity. A strong and elegant brand, at the crossroads of tradition and contemporary design.

Finally, backed by the official license for the iconic character Miffy, the brand brings its world to life in AP Junior®, an adorable collection of accessories and gifts for children.
