Studio SWABDESIGN

The Studio Swabdesign was the outgrowth of the meeting between a competition automobile technician and a globetrotting graphic designer. Both are meticulous and interested in the essential elements, ‘Swab’ if you like, which is in the Southwestern region of Germany that was home to Carolin and where she received a diploma in Design from ESAG before she got the travel bug. She traveled several times to Asia and Eastern Europe before digging in her heels in Paris. Pierre had been working in the marketing department of a large industrial company before co-founding Swabdesign, which was an opportune outlet for him to develop his passion for objects and lights. The Swabdesign collection seems to be deja vu yet reinterpreted into a more contemporary design. This authenticity is reassuring: “We create objects that combine passion and pragmatism qualifying for the label modern design, where beauty is matched with utility and where the object evokes emotions and desire and yet is pertinent and functional.” They feel strongly about Paris as the setting for Swabdesign in partnership with other companies knowledgeable in the technical aspects. Swabdesign is involved in every step from the lighting concept to the production process and the final assembly of each product in their studio.
