Danish designer Thor Høy collaborates with Made by Hand on the Core collection, which draws its inspiration from raw materials. In this series, each lamp is based on a central element: marble, whose natural surface - holes, veins and fissures - becomes both aesthetic and functional.
His approach is in keeping with the great tradition of Nordic design: simplicity, authenticity and concern for the material. A former carpenter turned designer, Thor Høy believes that "great design strikes at the heart of the balance between functionality, appearance and durability". He applies this vision to the Core collection, where the essentials are reduced to the core: a common marble base available in suspension or table lamp versions, with E27 socket and side switch.
With Thor Høy, the use of marble becomes a reflection on the material's value and lifespan. His work is characterized by sober forms, designed to last, and honest choices of materials. Each object in the Core collection reflects his conviction: to create beautiful objects today, that remain relevant tomorrow.
