Born in 1949 in Milan, Umberto Asnago is one of Penta’s iconic and exclusive light designer. He is notably the creator of several Penta’s collection like Sop, Woody or even Mom. After graduating from the Art Institute of Cantù, he was quickly attracted by the secrets of woodworking in working and apprenticing in local carpenter shops.

He mostly works with prestigious materials like massive wood (his first love), leather, steel, glass and more recently Carrara marble and stoneware.
Umberto Asnago is known to design light collections that combine elegance, geometric form and minimalism. It’s necessary for him to leave the materials play the leading role.
