APARTMENT PASSAGE DES MIRACLES - ALEXANDRA BOUSSAGOL
The greatest challenge for Alexandra BOUSSAGOL, a Paris-based architectural practice, was to overcome the lack of light and make the most of the 55 square meters. The arches became the visual signature.
Precise interior design work, for a project thought out down to the smallest detail. In the main room, a triptych of arches was used to delicately separate the kitchen area from the living room, while the lower part of the arches was used to support the sofa, which faces the custom-made bookcase.
The arches were also used to create a screen. Avoiding the need to run from wall to wall, the bookcase is lightened by curved shelves at either end. Its whiteness adds to its finesse. The rhythm of its alcoves outlines the space, while the oak cup handles add personality.
With its limited budget and meticulous design, this bookcase has all the makings of a great one.By avoiding kitchen-living room partitioning, the space becomes larger, uncluttered and bathed in light;
For the kitchen, its location has been retained, but the materials have been totally sublimated. The pearl-grey fronts are enhanced by brass handles for added sparkle. The Terrazzo-effect worktop is foolproof. The bronze mirrored credenza creates a play of perspective, dilating space and reflecting light. Like a Venetian marbled paper, the floor is a real decor.
Instead of an open bathroom, we made this space more intimate. The arched opening and curved glass roof helped set the scene. And to tie it all together, the shower enclosure was also adorned with fluted glass and a slender black arch.
