Location:
YAFO hummus deli, 96 rue d'hauteville, Paris, 10e

Yafo, the first Parisian hummus deli opened on April 20, 2017. Created by Lotan Lahmi, a young Israeli chef and pastry chef who arrived in France in 2010, the restaurant offers a selection of hummus every lunchtime, mixing typical products from the Levant with seasonal French produce.

YAFO is located at 96, rue d'Hauteville, in the 10th arrondissement, in the heart of Paris's veggietown, where many fine addresses flourish. YAFO is a sort of lunchtime canteen in soft pastel tones, with pink paint on the walls and ceiling, and white 10 x 10 cm tiles on the walls and tables, contrasted by terracotta-colored grouting. This Mediterranean "merry-go-round", wrapped in Millenium pink, is revealed once you enter the Farrow and Ball deep-green front door. This green and pink duo is repeated inside, continued by an ultra-matte waxed concrete in a khaki leather shade from Marius Aurenti.

The little touches that make this place unique: Indian aluminum china cabinets, inside which, like a grocery store, are stored plates, jars of preserved lemons and chickpeas, bottles of rosewater, Israeli cookbooks and more. Limoges porcelain sconces line the ceiling.

The architectural firm Studio sur rue (Sonia Assouly and Laure Chouraqui, both architects) drew inspiration from Tel Aviv's Bauhaus style to create YAFO's identity. The soft, hand-drawn lines reflect YAFO's free, artisanal spirit.
