Boris Berlin is one of the leading figures in contemporary Scandinavian design. Based in Copenhagen, he is co-founder of several renowned studios: Boris Berlin Design, Komplot Design and Iskos-Berlin Design. His singular approach, at the crossroads of art and innovation, has made a name for itself on the international scene, with collaborations stretching from Denmark to the United States, via Sweden and Japan.
With a formal language that is both pure and narrative, Boris Berlin sees each creation as a story to be told. "I think the best design is the one you recognize, even if you've never seen it before," he explains. This vision is reflected in his objects, which combine familiarity and surprise, functionality and poetry. For Danish brand Made by Hand, he has created the Flying collection, a series of aerial luminaires inspired by the lightness of movement, in keeping with this sensitive design philosophy.
Winner of numerous international awards, Boris Berlin's work has entered the permanent collections of prestigious museums such as MoMA in New York, the V&A Museum in London, the Designmuseum Danmark and the Vitra Design Museum. With each of his creations, he celebrates design that is sincere, intelligent and profoundly human.
