Shoichi Uchiyama is a Japanese designer from Tokyo.

In 1977, he established his design firm and started to create lighting fixtures with indirect glare-free lighting to beautify objects and make people feel the texture and depth of objects.
He devotes himself to the realization of high quality indirect lighting.

Shoichi Uchiyama generally tries to create an ideal light distribution and eliminate uncomfortable glare by controlling the light with a good knowledge of the characteristics of the light source. This strict design process leads to the creation of a simple and functional form, and ultimately gives his products a minimalist beauty true to Japanese tradition.

He has won the iF Award in Germany, as well as the Good Design Award in Japan, for designs due to his exceptional talent.
