Zenc is a suspension lamp designed by Joan Gaspar in 2021 for Marset.

Zenc's design is inspired by the water tanks on New York's rooftops. With this in mind, Gaspar has created a contemporary shape reminiscent of the industrial aesthetic.

A 44 cm diameter, 28 cm high lampshade surrounds the light source. On the outside its texture enriches the volume, and creates surprise... It appears to be made of metal, more precisely zinc, a material traditionally associated with storage tanks, and like tanks, even the joints protrude. However, it is made of rotomolded two-layer polyethylene. Its interior is coated with a white layer so that light bounces off, emanates and catches the eye. And that's where the contrast comes in: the exterior comes in a range of colors - blue, gray, ecru, red, pale pink and pale yellow - while the interior is always white.

A simple design reminiscent of a circular house, an archetype of essential shapes that also work in combination with each other, in different heights and colors, to offer multiple lighting possibilities.

To walk around New York is to look up, wanting to discover where the skyscrapers end. On his last trip to the city, Joan Gaspar walked the rooftops of New York and there, seeing the water tanks, he found the shape of this new design. A unique element that forms part of the city's skyline. Water tanks have been a sign of New York's identity since the early 19th century, and not only are they still there, but, amazingly enough, they're also still installed, fulfilling the same function.
