THOMERY - PETIT JOUR

Architect: PETIT JOUR

Location: Thomery

This second family home is located on the banks of the Seine, with direct access to the towpath from the garden. The existing staircase leading to the second floor was located along the garden façade. The staircase was relocated in order to open up the garden more widely - by creating two large bay windows - and benefit from the superb view of the Seine from inside.

It is now located on the living room side, along the dividing wall with the dining room. Under the new metal staircase is a long, custom-made bench with cushions facing the fireplace. The kitchen, in place of the former laundry room, is open to the dining room. Two large sliding doors separate the dining room from the entrance hall. The artisanal stained-glass windows are made from hand-colored glass and... eggplant skins! The floor is laid with antique terracotta tiles.

The first floor, which has been completely renovated, comprises three bedrooms, a shower room and a separate toilet. The previously converted attic has been repainted and the bathroom redone. All decoration (lighting, furniture, curtains) has been specially chosen for the house. A masonry terrace on the house side was installed, with the dining area sheltered by a pergola for hot summer days.
