Mayday is a hand lamp with IP65 designed in 1999 by German designer Konstantin Grcic for Flos.

The Mayday hand lamp consists of a conical diffuser attached to a handle with a hook and an electric cable that can be wound around the hook. Initially, Konstantin Grcic designed this lamp for himself; he wanted a lamp whose form followed its function perfectly, a kind of tool lamp. And that's where the beauty of this lamp lies, a simple glance and its function becomes clear. Its name comes from a famous rave music festival, which takes place on the first day of May, a sunny day full of brightness and positivity; the name also evokes the cry for help. Mayday is a versatile, avant-garde lamp, a portable light imagined when wireless technologies were not yet as developed as they are today. Mayday is a destination-less lamp, in other words, with an infinite number of destinations: it can hang from a bed frame, above a kitchen table, it can be used as a torch to search for a lost object under a sofa, or to illuminate a workspace, be it a drawing table or the interior of a car.
