The genesis of the iconic brand Artemide takes her source in the meeting between traditional Italian Design and Engineering.

Founded by the aerospatial ingineer Ernesto Gismondi and the designer Sergio Mazza in Milan’s area in 1960, Artemide is since kown as a worldwide leader in lighting industry. With audacious and timeless design creations which takes place as well in outdoor, indoor, office spaces than in everyone’s home.

At the crossroads between industrial design and tradition, the brand follows its guiding philosophy « The Human Light ». A completely new way to imagine and design light, with the revolutionary intuition that conceiving lighting material has to be based on Man and his well-being, in every ages and states of his life. Throught technology, innovation, traditional craftsmanship’s legacy and quality requirement, Artemide has been award-winning many times since the 60’s until the Compasso d'Oro Award for "Career Achievements" in 1994 and the European Design Price in 1997.

Nowadays, the brand has a global and international distribution, in collaboration with some of the most important designers in the world, such as Gae Aulenti, Herzog & De Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Ora Ito… In every materials, as glass, wood, steel and in many styles, from old-school, industrial, to contemporary and more.

From the pioneering Lamp Eclisse designed by Vico Magistretti to the iconic Tolomeo by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina which both got the Compasso d’Oro Award for « Design » in 1967 and 1989, Artemide’s creations are known as real testimonials of the History of Design around the world, even exhibited in museums.

In 2017, at the International salon Euroluce, the brand has presented its new global lighting technology with their own app and the equipment of all their products with a Wi-Fi system allowing everyone to control at home the light directly from their phone or their pad.
