Ferran Freixa Jové was born on October 20, 1922 in Menarguens, Lleida. He began studying quantity surveying in Barcelona in 1947, but graduated in technical architecture a few years later. Thanks to his talent, he began teaching technical drawing at various prestigious institutions as early as 1950. After completing his studies, Ferran Freixa Jové collaborated on several projects with architects such as Martinell, Bonet Garí, Bonet Armengol and Sostres.

In 1959, he founded Best-Form with the aim of producing in Spain the famous iron and leather BKF armchair by Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari-Hardoy (1939), as well as other designs of his own creation. In 1961, he won the first ADI-FAD Golden Delta for the N-4 lamp in the Nagoya series, and in 1962, he won a Silver Delta for a wall lamp. In 1967, he became a design partner at ADI-FAD and the following year a member of the board, attending the ICSID congress in Ibiza as treasurer. He remained a member of the ADI-FAD board until 1975.

In the 1970s, Ferran Freixa Jové extended his influence in Spanish design through various projects, assemblies and companies. In 1972, he designed and built an inflatable pavilion to house the works of groups belonging to the FAD association. In 1973, together with designers Casablancas, Blanc, Carreras, Prats and Bertran, he founded the Centre de Disseny de Barcelona (BCD), promoting design at municipal level. This led to business opportunities such as the creation of ACORD S.A. in 1974, which produced furniture and designs on a large scale, including the Minor 10 series, which won the Golden Delta ADI-FAD in 1974. From the 1980s, alongside Antoni de Moragas Gallissà, he helped restore several monuments dismantled at the end of the Spanish Civil War. In 1997, he set up his own design studio, Produccions Estudi Freixa, focusing on lighting with the Prisma lamp collection, which won him the Silver Delta in 1997.

Today, some of his lighting designs, such as the Nagoya, are reissued by the Spanish firm Santa&Cole.
