This is the beautiful Bright Malus suspension by Jonas Hoejgaard for the Danish company Nordic Tales!

The Bright Malus suspension explores our connection to nature. Malus means "apple" in Latin. Did you know that there are more than 7500 types of apples in the world? But they all have the same iconic shape.
This shape seems natural to us and has been hanging over our heads for millions of years.

The resemblance to an apple is not only seen in the beautiful outline of the lamp, defined by the mouth-blown glass, but the loose swing of the string also mimics a natural stem. Just as an apple is supplied with nutrients by its stem, the Bright Malus is illuminated by its stem.
The luminaire is made from two mouth-blown mirror shells. One is opaque, the other is diffuse.
It shines three different types of light. A light directed towards the table for optimal colour rendition, a diffuse upward light that does not blind and a semi-diffuse light to avoid a strong shadow between the directed light and the surroundings.

The suspension measures 24.9cm in diameter and is 20cm high. The cable supporting the Bright Malus is 2m long, the power cable is 3m long and is available in cream or black. This is the version with the black cable. The rosette is not supplied but is available on our website (in black or white).

The light source is not supplied, we recommend an E27 max 25W bulb.
