MADELEINE - HEJU STUDIO
Our intervention involved the complete reorganization of a 130 m2 Haussmann apartment to integrate a third bedroom and two bathrooms. Modern art and the modernist movement guided our thinking throughout the project.
The living spaces, with the entrance at the center, are cleverly organized to create multiple perspectives. The entrance cupboard structures the space and sets the scene for the dining room, through a free-form passage in shimmering brass. The nerve center of the apartment, the dining room merges inspirations and codes, with curved relief earthenware typical of the seventies, ash slatted doors with a Japanese spirit, a sculptural fireplace and a resolutely modernist bespoke table.
On the kitchen side, the furniture is punctuated by arched handholds and faces an orthogonal composition of slats around the dining area bench. Warm colors harmonize with the walnut of the round custom-made table and warm up the Calacatta marble worktop. Following on from the kitchen, the living room breaks with the codes of classic Haussmann style, culminating in a bookcase designed around a colonnade.
The master suite is a gentle interlude, with its warm, comforting pink waxed concrete floor. The room respects a rigorously symmetrical composition including a white earthenware headboard highlighted with brass and arched doors, covered with woven raffia, leading to a small shower room and WC.
The children's bedroom has become independent thanks to a wooden skylight pierced by curved shapes. At the far end of the apartment, the guest bedroom is adorned with an abstract deep-blue wallpaper that dialogues with the closet and its sculpted, branoussian-looking handholds.
Set apart from the rest of the apartment, the main bathroom is as if out of time. An imposing vanity sits at its center in a holistic ambience. The beige waxed concrete covering the floor and walls contrasts with the hand-crafted earthenware, giving pride of place to the imperfections of the gesture.
